INFORMATION FROM MANUFACTURER WEBSITE

We've got a wing for you then. Whether you are a speedriding expert or a novice, you will find what suits you best among three sizes available.  It's for you that we've created the ZigZag2!

ZigZag2 is a free-riding or speed-riding canopy, depending on its size it can be used both by the professionals and amateurs. It was designed and tested by Jean Baptiste-Chandelier, an expert on this kind of paragliders. Final shape and design were refined at Dudek Paragliders.

Main features of the ZigZag2:

  • steep diving capability, allowing to ride steep slopes
  • long steering paths
  • four-way risers with trims
  • exceptionally robust design
Canopy size selection regarding pilot's skills:
  • 9m2: EXPERT - for very advanced speedriders, able to cope with technical aspects of fast descent. May prove dangerous for less experienced pilots. Dynamic reactions possible.
  • 11m2: INTERMEDIATE - for medium-experienced speedriders, seeking a small and agile wing with a lot of fun.
  • 13m2 : BEGINNER - for novices, on the easy side (smooth banking, steadier steering).

SHORT MANUAL

The trimmers:
With trim closed, it is nice canopy for 80% of the normal use (robust design, pitch stable, softer controls, better capacity to fly, already nice steep diving capacity). It's recommended to release the trims only if you have enough experience, when you want to fly less and ski more on the steep slopes, or to be faster (more dynamic pitch, less capacity to flare out).

Canopy inflation:
To begin a speed riding run, you don't need to take the A risers, just keep a small pressure on the controls and start to ski. The wing will come over the head easily, without yawing and pitching around.

Skiing under the wing:
The wing offers good steering precision for easy combination the ski and the wing direction. It is equally easy to radically change the direction, for best evolutions you can do. With a "nose" reflex (special profile develped for speed riding only) the wing stays solid even in case of sudden unloading.

Take off:
Once you have enough speed, you are ready to take off, just apply the brakes (symmetrically!) and off you go. You can easily change the flight angle with your brakes. Put the hands up for speed and low perfomance flying, or use the brakes for slower flight with better performance (optimal brake position is some 30cm pulled).

Turns:
You can shape your turn however you like, to be slow or dynamic. Just be careful about the altitude, as in sharp turns you can go down fast. The wing has long break travel, so that you won't risk producing some unwitting spin or stall.

Landing:
For good, soft landing on this canopy it is really important to use the full length of available brake travel. A good idea is to build some extra speed on approach, so that you can have a nice flare.

ZigZag2 should not be used for pure flying, including aerobatics.
